The person who came up with the phrase ‘man’s best friend’ would have been amazed by how dogs act around babies. Dogs are kind, affectionate, and protective towards their human siblings. Brutus, for example, is a devoted brother to Kayden, the youngest member of the Michalek family.
Meet Brutus, a friendly Bullmastiff who resides in Northern California with his family, the Michaleks. Despite his stoic appearance, Brutus is actually a playful and affectionate dog, and his owners consider him as their first child. However, when Bonnie and her husband found out that they were expecting their first baby, they had concerns about how Brutus would react. Although he enjoys spending time with children and often plays with them in the park, he is used to being the only child in the family. As a result, his owners were uncertain about how he would handle the new addition to the family. According to Michalek, Brutus loves hearing children’s laughter and always gets excited whenever he hears them playing outside.
Even before Bonnie and her husband had a clue about her pregnancy, Brutus, their loyal dog, seemed to have sensed it. Whenever Bonnie’s husband was away, Brutus wouldn’t leave her side. No matter how comfortable his crate was or how many treats Bonnie offered him, he refused to stay inside until her husband returned. After nine months, when Bonnie gave birth to Kayden, the Michaleks made sure that Brutus would be part of the family’s new addition. According to Michalek, Brutus could sense her pregnancy before she even suspected it herself. On nights when her husband was absent, Brutus refused to stay in his crate, which at the time, she had thought was just bad behavior. However, in retrospect, she realized that he was trying to protect her all along.
Bonnie’s furry friend, Brutus, temporarily resided at her folks’ abode while they fetched their newest family member. Upon collecting Brutus, Bonnie ensured that he received ample affection before acquainting him with the little one. As soon as they introduced him to Kayden, Brutus rushed to give him gentle kisses and cozy cuddles. From then on, an extraordinary bond sprouted between them. Brutus is now Kayden’s watchful guardian and caregiver, and when Kayden gets teary-eyed, Brutus presents him with his cherished, tattered ball of fluff.
Brutus has a soft spot for his yellow fluffball, it’s his go-to toy. He believes that sharing it with Kayden might cheer him up and put a stop to his crying. Since Kayden joined the pack, everyone has been evolving and improving. Recently, Brutus discovered that there are other toys available, which aren’t dog-specific aside from his beloved fluffball.
