Our feline pals don’t always have an easy start in life, and unfortunately, many of them don’t get the happy ending they deserve. One such cat in Washington state, named Rascal Wild, had a pretty rough start. He was picked up as a stray near a busy road and had trouble finding his forever home due to his rambunctious temperament. His owners told me that when they looked up the location where he was rescued on Google Maps, it was definitely not a place for a cat! With multiple lanes of busy traffic, train tracks, and a cemetery, maybe he was dumped because he was a wild big boy instead of a cute, cuddly kitten. Perhaps, being unneutered, he was looking for love in all the wrong places and his family didn’t know how to find him. When he got to the shelter, they said he was feisty, energetic, mischievous, and would get into trouble because he hadn’t been taught that hands aren’t toys. Here’s where Rascal Wild was found, definitely not a safe place for a cat!
Gratefully, Jim and Cerise were delighted to welcome the rambunctious kitty into their hearts and home after hearing his story. They didn’t care that he wasn’t affectionate or cuddly because they knew immediately that he was meant to be with them once they felt a connection with his story and photograph. And, as they say, the rest is history!
They started a social media account for their handsome boy, and over 30k fans and counting are super happy that they did! His bio reads: “A handsome cat in the Seattle area who lures people with his belly. Big brother to @poly_dumpings.”
I reached out to the owners of Rascal and asked them a few questions, which they kindly answered in detail for me. Keep reading to discover more about this mischievous feline who is a total prankster at heart! And he’s earned the middle name “It’s a Trap” for his crafty ways of making you think he wants a belly rub only to surprise attack you. Essentially, he’s a professional belly trapper.
When Rascal first came to live with you, he was an un-neutered, stray boy. The shelter estimated that he was about 2 years old at the time, although it is possible that he was a little younger. Today, he is a mature seven-year-old who has settled down a lot over the past five years.
It appears that his name suits him perfectly. What was his name when you first adopted him, and how did you decide on his forever name?
“Rascal was his shelter name, but it is very fitting as he is a rascal! We never thought twice about it.”

How well does he get along with his cat siblings? According to 14-year-old Jinxie, they have a respectful standoff. While she may prefer to be an only cat, she secretly loves them all! Gain exclusive access to new articles, guides, reviews, feline facts, and more.
Look who’s here, chilling with his feline friend…and begging for chicken.
Poly_dumplings, a 2-year-old, shares how they adopted their cats as kittens and were scared about how he would react. Slow introductions were made until eventually, the cats and Poly_dumplings became best friends. He has personal groomers and playmates and they couldn’t have found a better fit for their family. Plus, they all look great together!
Is there anything noteworthy you’d like people to know about him?
“He’s not initially trustworthy of humans, but once you earn his trust, his love is unconditional. He has a secret sweet side that offsets his wild side, and a big giant purr.”

According to popular belief, tuxedo cats are known for their unique personalities. On a scale of 1 to 10, how would you rate Rascal’s temperament?
I would rate it as a 12! When we first brought Rascal home, he was extremely energetic and loved to ambush and bite us. However, now he enjoys being brushed and petted when he is in the mood. Sometimes he can get overstimulated and may nip to let us know he has had enough attention for the moment and wants some personal time.
Rascal is a big boy, and it shows when he tips the scales at 20lbs. But that shouldn’t come as a surprise since many tuxedo cats are large and in charge. I can’t get enough of Rascal’s “it’s a trap” antics. Keep up with his crazy cat behavior on a daily basis on Instagram. Here he is trying to sucker his humans in for a belly rub, but they know better because those murder mittens will come out. (Funny enough, my tuxie does the same thing!)
If you know someone who is a fan of tuxedo cats, share Rascal’s story with them! I would like to extend a special thanks to Rascal’s owners, Jim and Cerise, for allowing me to share Rascal’s story with all of you. I hope you enjoyed it and him as much as I do.
Don’t forget to check out his cat housemates’ Poly Dumpings, also known as Gyzo Gnocchi. If you love cute polydactyl cats, then these two cuties are right up your alley!
